Increase in the number of new domains
In the 2nd quarter of 2020, 163,277 new registrations were made, which contributed to the total number of 3,606,143 domain registrations at the end of the quarter. In the first quarter, 190,011 new registrations were made, making the .eu domain a little worse in this regard.
For comparison, we also state that in the same period, just over 52,000 new .CZ domains were registered. The largest increase in .eu domain registrations in the second quarter was in Slovenia (+ 4.8%), followed by Latvia (3.8%) and Romania (3.0%).
83.9% of domain owners renewed their domain
Eurid states that 83.9% of .eu domain owners successfully renewed their domains in the second quarter of 2020, and only 16.1% had these domains expired. Which is a very interesting number. In the first quarter, this figure was 80%. So the promotional prices for domain registration that EURID allows are paid.
